Saptha swara

The Seven swaras ( Saptha Swaras) in Carnatic music are :

Sa , Ri , Ga , Ma , Pa, Dha, Ni, Sa 

That is , 
Sa =Shadja
Ri=Rishabha
Ga=Gandhara
Ma=Madhyama
Pa=Panchama
Dha=Dhaivata
Ni=Nishada

There are 12 different tones (notes) in this Saptha Swaras.

That is , There are three types each of Rishabha, Gandhara, Dhaivata and Nishada. There are two types of Madhyama, while Panchama and Shadja are invariant.They are given below :
